Adrian Kirtley - Head Director

I grew up in a small town just outside of San Antonio, Boerne TX. I was raised in a beautiful family with my parents and 6 other siblings! I’ve been singing in church choir since I can remember, and was heavily involved in High School Choir at Boerne High School under the direction of Mr. Steve Davis!

After high school I pursued a degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio! I graduated with my Bachelors in 2013 and student taught at Taft High School.

My first job right out of college was the Assistant Choir Director under the Head Direction of the passionate and inspiring Judy Welch at Taft High School where I student taught. It was here that I learned how to teach, and had my first successes at UIL competition earning multiple sweepstakes scores with choirs, and where I would work for 2 years.

In Spring of 2015, my fiancé at the time was accepted into medical school! So, we packed our bags, and I started looking for jobs in Fort Worth. I hit the jackpot as an Assistant Choir Director to the energetic superwoman head director Amy Fambrough at Timber Creek HS in Keller TX. After many successes with JV Choirs and All-State singers in my two years at Timber Creek, I felt it was time to spread my own wings and search for jobs as Head Director.

The famous Fort Worth ISD Fine Arts Director, Dinah Menger, welcomed me on board with Benbrook Middle-High School! In my time at Benbrook, the choir students earned their first two sweepstakes at UIL since the schools’ opening in 2011, and the program over doubled in size by February of my first year. My experience there was unforgettable and crucial to my growth as a program director, having taught Grades 6-12 at one time I really feel like I have a broad scope and respect for a High School feeder pattern altogether.

When the opportunity arose to apply for the head director position at Timber Creek in 2018, I had to take a chance because although I truly have a deep respect for the work middle school choir directors do, my true passion is with the high school student. In Fall 2018 I will begin my journey as a 6A head director by returning to Timber Creek High School! It’s my ultimate dream and am so honored to be given the opportunity. Are you ready Falcons? Cause I am!
